What Is a Spacer Layer?

A spacer layer is a converted adhesive or film component that separates adjacent layers by a controlled distance. In diagnostic assemblies, its cut geometry often forms the sidewalls of a narrow fluid channel.
Creating a Functional Gap
The spacer prevents the cover film from contacting the sensor substrate across the entire area. The open region left by the die cut becomes a controlled pathway for the sample.
